4. APQP Overview
(1-Day Workshop)

About the Program:

This course will provide the participant the information required to understand the implement the APQP process for the automotive O.E.M.’s. As a part of this one-day activity the participants will focus on the phases of the APQP from initial program activities to ramping up the production of a part or subsystem and then controlling the quality of the production during the production run. Emphasis will be on the new disciplines required to implement this type of program activity and how it differs from the standard practices of the past. Use of teams and of forward planning and implementing of quality tools will be demonstrated by use of examples from industry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion of this seminar the participants will understand why there is a need to implement the APQP processes in a timely manner to improve quality and productivity.
  • They will know where APQP originated and where it is to be used now and in the near future.
  • They will be introduced to what APQP is in general and in detail and how it relates to the automotive industry standards.
  • Participants will be exposed to the new management concepts that define who are to be a part of the APQP process. (The industries involved in ISO and more specifically the QS-9000 requirement dictate that will be involved in APQP.)
  • The latest concepts on how to implement APQP will be discussed and group discussions will lead to an awareness of how to proceed with APQP in a specific organization.
  • The overall objective for this seminar is to convince all participants that APQP is a new way of doing business. This will be accomplished by answering the five most important questions of: why, where, what, who and how.
