2. Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (1-Day Workshop)

About the Program:

This course will provide the participant the information required to complete a design and a process FMEA for the automotive O.E.M.’s. As a part of this two-day activity the participants will form teams to produce a FMEA for a company design and for a specific company process. In addition and as a part of this learning experience the participant will use all the basic tools and information and data collected within the company to support the FMEA process. Pre-class activities will be required to locate the reference materials needed for the class workshop. Post class activities will be required to complete the FMEA’s begun during the two days.

  • Describe the benefits of an FMEA
  • Describe team member roles and responsibilities required for the development of Design and/or Process FMEA’s
  • Determine when to complete an FMEA
  • Describe the FMEA information-gathering process
  • Demonstrate brainstorming and analyzing as a disciplined process to both generate ideas and critique them for relevance
  • Define specific types of information required to conduct an FMEA and the thought process required to reduce potential failure modes
  • Understand system, sub-system, component and process FMEA’s and their hierarchy
  • Initiate and conduct a design FMEA
  • Initiate and conduct a process FMEA
  • Understanding the what, why, who, when and how regarding the FMEA process
  • Being able to work in a team environment and participate in a design and process FMEA development activity

Who Should Attend:

This workshop will be especially helpful to engineers, process and manufacturing personnel, production personnel, R & D and marketing personnel. The approach is suitable for program managers, plant managers, and project managers.

Features & Benefits:

Improves client satisfaction, reduces concerns prior to design or process release, hence saving money, and documents the thought process of design and process activities for future use.
