ACTIVSTATS for MINITAB

Minitab Inc. today announced plans for a September release of ActivStats® for MINITAB™, an innovative multimedia text designed to help professionals understand and master basic statistics. The tool uses video, sound, and other elements to present statistical concepts in clear and imaginative ways, then gives users the opportunity to launch MINITAB and explore the concepts through hands-on activities.

ActivStats for MINITAB offers professionals who need to learn, reference, or recall statistics an exciting alternative to a traditional textbook. Users can work at their own pace, bookmark essential material, or consult the "Assistant"-a tool that guides them through the steps of a typical analysis. They also can quickly locate activities that teach specific concepts by clicking on entries in the index. They can even rearrange the order of lessons to match one of over a dozen popular textbooks.

Minitab's release of ActivStats for MINITAB reflects the company's commitment to provide their clients with top-of-the-line resources, support, and service. "With quality improvement programs like Six Sigma relying on data analysis to increase efficiency and reduce costs, more and more employees in all industries need to know statistics," says Barbara Ryan, president and chief executive officer of Minitab. "ActivStats for MINITAB offers our clients a creative, flexible approach to learning the material. It also makes a terrific supplement to a formal course and a great reference tool once they've completed it."

ActivStats for MINITAB runs directly from a CD-ROM and comes with Minitab's exceptional, free technical support. It was designed and developed by noted Cornell statistics professor Paul Velleman and Data Description, Inc., and will be available September 14 through the American Supplier Institute.
