The Integration of Robust Design™ & Axiomatic Design

About the Program:

This program introduces designers to axiomatic design, a proven methodology which enhances Robust Design™ ensuring that design elements are independent.  As a result, when Robust Design is applied to make one function insensitive to change, no other function suffers.

Axiomatic design simplifies the design process, guides the design team from initial concept to the complete design and, at every step, identifies the best design decision.  As a result, designers deliver the best products and get them to market faster.  Axiomatic design has a 20-year record of success in industries such as automotive, aerospace, process equipment, medical equipment, and military.  Through the use of case studies, the program will show how the use of axiomatic design prevents design problems such as:

Phase

Problem

Development

  • Time-consuming iterations.
  • Difficult to extend design

Production

  • Tight tolerances.
  • Difficult to assemble and set up

client use

  • Difficult to calibrate and install.
  • Sensitive to small changes.
  • Erratic behavior.
  • High warranty cost

Features and Benefits
  • Each attendee will gain experience solving design problems with axiomatic design
  • Each attendee will understand the concepts and how axiomatic design works well with Robust Design
  • Each attendee will receive training complete materials and a demo copy of Acclaro™ software for axiomatic design, awarded Industry Work’s Technology of the Year Award.
Who Should Attend:

Design executives, managers, engineers and especially those who experience any of the problems above.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, attendees will understand:
  • The concepts of axiomatic design
  • The simplified design process resulting from axiomatic design
  • How axiomatic design identifies the best design decisions
  • How axiomatic design enhances Robust Design
  • How axiomatic design works with all existing design tools
  • How axiomatic design aids project management and ECOs
  • That software is available to apply axiomatic design easily even for large systems
