Toolmaster Workshop

About the Program:

ToolMaster Workshops are four-day courses designed for trained Black Belts and Master Black Belts. The workshop serves as a great refresher for the individual that has been out of the classroom for a while or for those that would like to extend their knowledge of Six Sigma well beyond the level covered during initial Black Belt training.

The workshop agenda integrates a thorough review of traditional Six Sigma tools with the addition of invaluable tools that are always asked about, but never taught. In this hands-on class, participants will achieve a level of proficiency and understanding of practical tools that will take them well beyond their peers and enable them to solve previously unsolvable problems. Tools such as destructive measurement system analysis, non-normality, non-parametric testing, DOE for attribute data, DOE Sigma reduction, and others are introduced for the first time.

Learning Objectives:

Day One:

  • The Adult Learning Process
  • Project Definition
  • Rolled Throughput Yield
  • Capability Analysis (Short-term vs. Long-term)

Day Two:

  • Non-normal Data & Non-normal Capability Analysis
  • Mean Testing (T-Tests, Oneway Anova)
  • Sigma Testing (Chi2, F-Tests)
  • Non-parametric Testing

Day Three:

  • Sample Size Selection (ðm’s, ðs’s, proportions, rates, and DOE)
  • DOE with Sigma as the Response Variable
  • DOE for Attribute Response Variables
  • DOE Mixture and Nested Designs

Day Four:

  • Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Random Effects Model DOE (w/ application to destructive R&R)
  • Introduction to Crossed, Taguchi, & Plackett-Burman Designs

Who Should Attend?

This program is ideal for practicing Black Belts and Master Black Belts who have the desire or need to extend their knowledge and problem solving capability. It is also a great preparatory workshop for potential Six Sigma instructors. In addition, any Black Belt or Master Black Belt candidate who is responsible for training, mentoring, and/or supporting other Black Belts or Green Belts should attend. This course is a core requirement of ASI’s Master Black Belt Development Program.

Pre-Requisites

Before enrolling in the ToolMaster Workshop participants should have already graduated from a well-respected Black Belt program and have completed at least one Six Sigma project. Students must come to class with their own laptop computer running Minitab version 12 or 13 and ready to work very hard.
