Train-the-Trainer

About the Program:

Train-the-Trainer is ASI’s most popular course. It is a fun and remarkably valuable course for anyone coaching or instructing Six Sigma professionals. The course is also a core requirement of ASI’s Master Black Belt Development Program because it provides critical instruction and practice in the delivery of Six Sigma training. And while much of the course is similar in content to traditional train-the-trainer programs, the curriculum is highly tailored to meet the needs of Six Sigma instructors.

The program, which focuses on the Adult Learning Process, is built around the "Three Wheels of Mastery" that are essential for motivating others to apply Six Sigma on the job and for enhancing and accelerating their learning process. The three wheels are:

Expertise:

In addition to understanding Six Sigma concepts, trainers must understand how adults learn to help participants learn more quickly and effectively.

Planning and Presenting:

Learn tips for clearly and efficiently presenting ideas and concepts, as well as how to prevent problems before they occur.

Engaging and Facilitating:

Learn strategies for engaging the hearts and minds of others and how to manage group dynamics (in training sessions, as well as in meetings).

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify "best" and "worst" training practices.
  • Understand behaviors and skills necessary for mastering each of the "Three Wheels."
  • Actually apply the Adult Learning Process.
  • Demonstrate the four communication modes.
  • Demonstrate the four critical skills for engaging others and practice using these skills.
  • Learn how and when to use visual aids.
  • Prepare and present multiple mini-presentations.
  • Learn to manage nervousness.
  • Learn to handle disruptive behavior.
  • Identify training strengths and weaknesses.
  • Learn to coach and provide feedback to others.
  • Develop greater confidence and comfort
