Transactional Toolmaster Workshop

Pre-Requisites:

Before enrolling in the Transactional ToolMaster Workshop participants should have already graduated from a well-respected Black Belt program and have completed at least one Six Sigma Project. Students must come to class with their own laptop computer running Minitab version 12 or 13.

About the Program:

Transactional business processes are fast becoming a principal target of Six Sigma projects. While most often applied in manufacturing environments, many companies have discovered that there is tremendous opportunity to apply Six Sigma to business processes as well. However, the nature of business processes can be vastly different than manufacturing processes. The environment in which Black Belts work can also be very different. Some of the challenges Black Belts may face include a lack of historical data, a support team with little or no process maturity, restriction to attribute data, more challenging project valuations, to name a few.

The Transactional ToolMaster Workshop is a four-day course designed to compliment traditional Black Belt training by providing Black Belts with the additional tools they’ll need to effectively tackle transactional problems.

Learning Objectives:

Day One—Introduction to Transactional Projects:

  • The nature of transactions
  • Transactional project identification and definition
  • Transactional project metrics
  • Transactional challenges

Day Two – The 7 New Management Tools:

  • Affinity diagrams
  • Root cause analysis
  • Tree diagrams
  • Matrix diagrams
  • Prioritization matrices
  • Process decision program charts
  • PERT diagrams

Days Three & Four – Transactional Analysis:

  • Review of attribute data
  • Logistic regression
  • Sample Size Selection
  • Chi-Square Analysis
  • Proportions Testing

Day Five – Advanced Transactional Topics:

  • Introduction to Survey Design and Analysis
  • Introduction to Forecasting Systems
  • Introduction to Queuing Theory

Who should Attend?

This program is ideal for practicing Black Belts and Master Black Belts who have the desire or need to extend their knowledge and problem solving capability to the transactional environment. It is also a great preparatory workshop for potential Six Sigma instructors. In addition, any Black Belt or Master Black Belt responsible for training, mentoring, and/or supporting other Black Belts or Green Belts should attend. This course is a core requirement of ASI’s Master Black Belt Development.
